Neobisium (Neobisium) simile (L. Koch, 1873) View in CoL
Obisium simile L. Koch, 1873: 58 ; Tömösváry 1882a: 225–226.
Neobisium (Neobisium) simile View in CoL : Loksa 1966: 392; Harvey 1991: 367–368; Kárpáthegyi 2007: 84; Christophoryová et al. 2011b: 37; Harvey 2013; Červená et al. 2020a: 222; WPC 2023.
Occurrence: Bulgaria (?), Austria (?), Belgium, Croatia, France, Georgia Germany, Hungary (?), Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom (WPC 2023).
Reported localities in Hungary: Villányi Mts; Mecsek Mts; Keszthely Mts; Vértes Mts; Somló Mt. ( Loksa 1966).
New data: nil.
Habitat preference: unknown.
Remarks: Tömösváry (1882a) reported this species from the Vihorlát Mts ( Slovakia) and Mehadia ( Romania). These samples could not be found in the HNHM collections and are probably lost. Nevertheless, the characteristics provided by Tömösváry differ from the original species description, e.g. the shape of the epistome is different and and the row of protuberances on the surface of pedipalpal femur was not mentioned in Tömösváry’s description ( Tömösváry 1882a), therefore, Tömösváry’s identifications are questionable. Christophoryová et al. (2011b) also concluded that the Slovakian records of N. simile are doubtful. Loksa (1966) reported new occurrences of N. simile from Hungary, but the species can not be located, and therefore I am unable to confirm their identity. As there are no other records of N. simile from Hungary, its occurrence is doubtful.
