Neolebouria diacopae (Nagaty & Abdel Aal, 1962) Gibson, 1976 View in CoL

Synonyms: Hamacreadium diacopae Nagaty & Abdel Aal, 1962 ; Plagioporus diacopae (Nagaty & Abdel Aal, 1962) Yamaguti, 1971 .

Records. From Lutjanus fulviflamma [as Diacope fulviflamma Cuvier & Valenciennes ] in the Red Sea by Nagaty & Abdel Aal (1962c) as H. diacopae . From an unidentified Lethrinus species off Fiji by Manter (1963) as H. diacopae .

Remarks. This species was described based on a single specimen. Yamaguti (1971) transferred it to Plagioporus but Gibson (1976) added it to his original concept of Neolebouria , a combination recognised by subsequent authors (Aken'Ova & Cribb 2001; Dronen et al. 2014). Although the type-host is a lutjanid, the genital pore is distinctly extra-caecal. The excretory vesicle was not described. Manter (1963) did not provide an illustration or description for his specimens, which, due to the large geographical separation, may well represent a different species, perhaps Neolebouria lineata Aken’Ova & Cribb, 2001, which Bray & Justine (2009) reported from a nemipterid off New Caledonia. It is most reasonable to consider this species to belong in Neolebouria for the present.
