4 Neoteratura quadrata View in CoL sp. nov., Chinese nameḦ形flfi⁂
Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4
Description. Male Body small. Head hypognathous. Fastigium verticis conic, apex rounded, with a longitudinal sulcus on dorsal surface. Eyes globular. Apical segment of maxillary palpus lightly shorter than subapical one, apical area inflated, apex rounded.
Pronotum with anterior margin straight, posterior margin rounded; lateral lobe longer than hight, posterior margin tapering, humeral sinus indistinct. Thoracic auditory spiracle large, exposed, peanut-shaped.
Tegmina longer, surpassing apices of hind femora, tapering, terminal rounded. Hind wings shorter tegmina.
All femora unarmed on ventral surfaces. Fore coxa with a spine; fore tibia with 4 spines on both sides of ventral surface separately; tibial tympana open on both sides, long elliptic. Genicular lobe of hind femur with apex rounded; hind tibia with 25–28 spines on both sides of dorsal surface, one pair of dorsal apical spurs and ventral apical spurs respectively.
Tenth abdominal tergite broad, posterior margin shallowly concave. Cercus divided into dorsal and ventral branches, dorsal branch shorter, thin, apex rounded; ventral one slightly longer and broader, slightly curved inwards. Genitalia with base broad, the middle narrow, apical area enlarged, roughly quadrate, inlaid between dorsal and ventral branches. Subgenital plate with base broad, tapering, posterior margin rounded; styli long on lateral sides of subapex of subgenital plate.
Coloration. Body green, eyes brown. Hind tibia with spines black.
Female. Appearance is similar to that of male, tegmina narrower. Eighth abdominal tergite protruding ventrad, lamellar, every apex rounded. Tenth abdominal tergite with posterior margin distinctly concave. Cercus long, the middle lightly robust, apex thin and acute. Ovipositor thin, moderately upcurved, both margins smooth, apex acute. Subgenital plate roughly trapezoid, apical area narrower, posterior margin roughly straight.
Material examined. Holotype: ♂, Longdao, Ruili, Yunnan, 18 August, 2019, coll. Yanqing Li and Limin Lu. Paratypes: 4♀, other data same as holotype .
Measurement (mm). Body: ♂ 9.5, ♀ 8.6; pronotum: ♂ 3.7, ♀ 3.5; tegmina: ♂ 11.3, ♀ 11.5; hind femora: ♂ 8.8, ♀ 8.9; ovipositor: 6.1–6.2.
Discussion. The new species differs from the congeners in: male genitalia with base broad, the middle narrow, apical area enlarged, roughly quadrate, inlaid between dorsal and ventral branches.
Etymology. The species is named after apical morphology of male genitalia, Latin quadrata- means quadrate.
