Nesocricos evops La Rivers 1971 View in CoL
( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 )
Discussion. Macropterous adults and many immatures of Nesocricos evops La Rivers were collected from several streams in the vicinity of Wamena in the Baliem Valley of Papua Province. The insects were found only in the vegetated stream margins ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ) in erosional, high current velocity reaches, as well as among vegetation in depositional areas with negligible current velocity. We collected after heavy rains had caused substantial seasonal flooding several weeks earlier, and local people indicated that these insects are usually much more common than we found during our collecting. Previously, this species was reported to be widespread throughout the central ranges of Papua New Guinea ( Polhemus & Polhemus 1985), but not recorded in Indonesia. Here we present the first record of N. evops from Indonesia.
