Chaugule, 2004, p. 68.
Distribution in India: Karnataka (Castle Rock in a high-altitude stream); Maharashtra (near Dapoli, Western Ghatsin a low-altitude stream).
Notes: Kumano (2002) and Entwisle et al. (2007) consider Nothocladus to include three species: (i) N. nodosus Skuja in Australia, (ii) N. lindaueri Skuja in New Zealand and (iii) N. afroaustralis Skuja in Madagascar. Guiry & Guiry (2017) recognize currently 17 taxonomically valid and accepted species in Nothocladus . The fourth species, N. tasmanicus , is considered an ecotype of N. nodosus . The report of an unidentified species of Nothocladus in India is of considerable biogeographic interest, being somewhat intermediate between the areas of distribution mentioned above. Since Indian specimens are not described or illustrated properly, the report of Nothocladus India remains doubtful.
