Key to the species of Notiphilides

Note. N. saussurei cannot be implemented in the key due to the precarious description and inaccessibility of the type material (not found). This species needs revision mainly for its vague record as only “America Meridional”. It presents 109–131 leg-bearing segments for females and seems to be similar in morphology to N. maximiliani and N. erga .

3 Claws of the second maxillae with one filament (only DR present) ( Figs 5 D–E, 14A), sulcus in tergites more visible in the middle and posterior body region ( Fig. 2 D). Intermediate tergite of the postpedal segment with homogeneous color ( Figs 2 F,

7F, 14B), last pair of legs without tubercle at the apex of the tarsal article ( Figs 6 E̅F, 14B)................... N. grandis - Claws of the second maxillae with two filaments (DR an VR presents) ( Figs 12 D̅E, 14C), sulcus found in all tergites ( Fig. 9 B, D). Intermediate tergite of the postpedal segments with distinct dark band in the distal region ( Figs 9 F, 14D); last pair of legs with conspicuous tubercle in the distal area of tarsus ( Figs 13 E̅F, 14D)........................... N. amazonica sp. n.
