Type:— BRAZIL. Bahia: southern region, ex hort., 27 November 1839, B. Luschnath s.n. (lectotype, designated here: LE barcode LE00001457 !, LE barcode LE00001458 !, LE barcode LE00001456 !; isolectotype: BR barcode BR0000006573027 !) .
Notes:—Cogniaux (1904) described N. microchila without informing the holotype and herbarium where the deposit occurred in the protologue. The syntypes that were not mentioned in the original work were located in the collections of the LE and BR herbaria. The materials at the LE herbarium are considered more than one group of the same material and, together, constitute the lectotype designated here ( Turland et al. 2018: Art. 8.3).
