Type:— COSTA RICA. [Puntarenas:] Boruca, March 1892, H. Pittier 6850 (lectotype, designed by Pupulin et al. (2022: 77): BR barcorde BR 0000006572525, isolectotypes: AMES 24886, AMES 24886 microscope slide).
Notes: —Schlechter (1918) described N. pittieri without informing the holotype and the herbarium where the deposit occurred in the protologue. Pupulin et al. (2022) typified the samples of Pittier 6850 that have the name and are deposited in the herbaria BR and AMES.
