Type specimens examined: Holotype male, allotype female, 2 paratype females, “Jarvis I. 7.vi.1935, Boerhaavia, W.W. Graf collector; paratype one male, “Jarvis I. S W side, 26.iii.1935 ”, “ Boerhaavia ” “E.H. Bryan, Jr collector”, in B. P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu.
Description: Measurements are of the paratype male, followed by those of a paratype female within round brackets.
Body length 3.78 (3.60); maximum width 1.20 (1.20).
Coloration: Generally testaceous, posterior lobe area of pronotum almost completely pale yellow in contrast to darker anterior lobe area. Other details as in original description.
Structure: Head rugosely punctae and covered with short white pubescence. Length of head 0.76 (0.72); width across eyes 1.00 (0.90); interocular space 0.57(0.54); interocellar space 0.31(0.29); eye-ocellar space 0.11(0.10); eye length 0.27(0.26); eye width 0.20(0.19). Labium extending to hind coxae, length of segments: I 0.53(0.50); II 0.53 (0.53); III 0.43 (0.49); IV 0.34 (0.34). Antennae with 4 th segment about as long as 3 rd segment, length of segments: I 0.34(0.30); II 0.64 (0.60); III 0.53(0.49); IV 0.57(0.53).
Thorax: Pronotum very coarsely punctae with a central impression, clothed at anterior margin with long golden or white setae which extend onto base of head, other areas with white pubescence; median length 0.76.(0.67); width at anterior margin 0.73(0.65); width at posterior margin 1.14 (1.02).
Scutellum length 0.53 (0.50); width 0.68 (0.68). Length of hemelytra 2.59 (2.40); length of corium 1.75 (1.70); claval commissure 0.38 (0.39). Corium sparsely covered with shorter white setae than pronotum and scutellum.
Abdomen: All genitalia details generally as in N. vinitor .
Female: Abdominal terga sclerotised as in N. vinitor . Spermatheca as in N. vinitor , with one loop and 2–3 twists, apical sac part globose and slightly broader than subapical part.
Distribution. Jarvis Island (Pacific Ocean).
Diagnosis. N. oceanicus is generally similar to N. vinitor , but differs in having long golden setae on the pronotum. It also differs in the following colour markings: pronotum with posterior lobe area almost completely pale in contrast to the fuscous band on the anterior lobe area, and by the pale distal half of the scutellum.
