REMARKS: Ochthebius maculatus Reiche, 1869 was reported in Egypt by Hansen (1998) and Jäch (2004). According to Delgado & Jäch (2007), the species is rather widely distributed in the Maghreb ( Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) and it occurs also in Italy (Sicily) and Malta. Ochthebius abeillei Guillebeau, 1896 reported in Hansen (1998) and Jäch (2004) as a synonym to Ochthebius maculatus Reiche, 1869 is now an independent species and it is known from Egypt ( Delgado & Jäch 2007).
