seriegranatus Seidlitz, 1896: 733 , 753 ( Helops (Stenomax) , in key, description); Gebien 1911: 552 ( Helops (Stenomax) , in catalogue); Reitter 1922: 129 ( Cylindronotus (Odocnemis) , in key); Winkler 1928 –1929: 1018 ( Cylindronotus (Odocnemis) , in catalogue); Gebien 1943: 426 (805) ( Cylindronotus (Odocnemis) , in catalogue); Nabozhenko 2008: 37 ( Odocnemis , in catalogue); Nabozhenko & Löbl 2008: 244 ( Odocnemis , in catalogue).

Type material (studied). Lectotype (DEI), ♂, designated here, with labels: “ granipennis Belgrad Wald Merkl” (handwritten), “52” (handwritten red numbers), blue square, “Syntypus” (curator’s label), “ seriegranatus ” (handwritten), “DEI—Müncheberg Col—02799”.

Other studied material. Turkey, Bursa Province, Cumalıkızık , 23–25.v.2008, leg. I.V. Shokhin, 23 specimens ( ZIN, CN, BMNH) ; Turkey, Bilecik Province, Pazaryeri District, Sarıdayı , 39°55′981″ N 29°50′ 782″E, 1178 m, 23.v.2009, leg. M.V. and S.V. Nabozhenko, B. Keskin, 2♂♂, 3♀♀ ( ZIN, CN), 13♂♂, 4♀♀ (dry material) and 4♂♂, 1♀ (in ethanol) ( ZDEU) .

Redescription, male. Body length 9–10 mm, body width 3.7–4 mm. Body robust, weakly shining, black, rarely dark-brown; legs dark-brown. Head widest at level of the eyes. Eyes large, convex. Ratio of head width at eyes to distance between eyes: 1.6–1.7. Anterior margin of clypeus straight. Genae strongly rounded basally, outer margin of head between gena and clypeus without emargination. Punctation of head coarse and dense (punctures in contact), elongated near eyes. Head covered with very short and fine recumbent hairs. Antennae moderately long (reaching 1/4 of elytral length), with 3 apical antennomeres extending beyond base of pronotum. Pronotum transverse (1.2–1.3 × as wide as long), rectangular, widest at middle or before middle, 1.4–1.45 × as wide as head. Lateral margins weakly rounded, often corrugated, not sinuate basally. Anterior margin widely sinuate or straight.

Base weakly rounded or trisinuate. Anterior angles obtuse, widely rounded apically, weakly projected; posterior angles obtuse, narrowly rounded apically. All margins of pronotum beaded. Disc evenly convex, with small depression on each side marginally and smooth longitudinal middle line. Punctation of disc coarse and dense (diameter of punctures in middle subequal to distance between punctures), with laterally denser connected punctation; punctures on sides of disc often (but not always) longitudinally elongate. Hypomera not flattened on outer margins, with coarse longitudinal wrinkles. Elytra moderately convex, wide (1.5–1.6 × as long as wide), 1.35–1.45 × as wide and 2.75–3 × as long as pronotum, 2 × as wide as head. Strial punctures merged in entire deep furrows. Elytral intervals flat or weakly convex, with fine distinct punctation and large distinct granules; granules fewer at base and middle of elytra. Epipleural carinae wide and distinctly visible dorsally; epipleura with inner narrow carinae reaching elytral apex. Lateral margins of elytra not sinuate apically. Ventral side of body covered with very short recumbent hairs. Abdominal ventrites with fine dense punctation and irregular small wrinkles on sides; ventrite 1 without hair brush; ventrite 5 with longitudinal depression in middle and small depression on each side, not beaded on apex. Legs. Inner side of femora densely pubescent and punctate in basal half; apical part smooth, dull. Protibiae curved, with 3–4 teeth on inner side; mesotibia weakly curved, with 2 small teeth on inner side; metatibiae straight or sometimes curved inwards, without teeth or granules. Trochanters with single long setae.

Redescription, female. Body length 9–12 mm, body width 3.7–5 mm. Body more robust. Antennae shorter, with 3 apical antennomeres extending beyond base of pronotum, reaching 1/5 of elytral length.

Bionomics. The species inhabits Quercus forests in Sarıdayı (Bilecik) (Fig. 56G) and is active from 23:00 to 1:00. Igor Shokhin collected this species near Bursa on trunk of Quercus cerris in a park forest.

Notes. Ferrer & Soldati (1999: 65) listed the species under the name Cylindronotus (Odocnemis) seriagranatus from Irmasan pass (Antalya Province). This is unlikely, since the latter is distributed only in west northern Turkey (including the European part).
