World distribution. Chile.
Chilean distribution. From La Araucania to Los Lagos region ( Fig. 90 View FIGURE 90 ).
Altitudinal range. From coastal to precordillera ecosystems (5– 1,400 m.a.s.l.).
Biology and notes. Both the Systema Dipterorum ( Thompson & Pape 2010) and Etcheverry in their catalog (1963), assume that Peulla is a locality belonging to Argentina. However, Peulla belongs to the Puerto Varas municipality in Chilean territory. Because of this, Odyneromyia valdiviformis was reclassified as endemic to Chile. This fly is associated with Valdivian and Nothofagus spp. native forests, both currently fragmented by human being activities ( Miranda et al., 2017). Nothing is known about the biology of this species.
Conservation status. EN under B2ab (iii) using AOO = 116 km 2 and five localities (or subpopulations); EOO = 31,302 km 2.
