Oroides pakaluki sp. nov.
Etymology. The name honors the late beetle taxonomist, James ‘Jim’ Pakaluk.
Description. Length 4.45 mm; TL/EW = 1.44; PL/PW = 0.38; EL/EW = 1.10; EL/PL = 3.50; EW/PW = 1.25. Dorsal surfaces black, with frons, lateral margins of pronotum and apices of elytra brownish; ventral surfaces brownish black with prothoracic hypomera and femora brown, abdomen dark brown; body covered with pale, moderately long, adppresed setae.
Interocular distance about 0.4 times width of head across eyes. Antenna 0.45 times as long as head capsule width. Prosternal process between coxae in mid length about 0.5 times as broad as coxal diameter; prosternum in front of coxa 0.25 times as long as coxal longitudinal diameter. Pronotum and elytra similarly punctate, punctures fine and moderately dense, setigerous, interspaces smooth. Male genitalia as in Figs. 4 View FIGURE 4 A–C.
Type material. Holotype: “New Guinea: SE, Popondetta, 60 m., 1-4.IX.1963 / J. Sedlacek collector, Bishop” ( BPBM). Paratypes: same data as holotype (1: BPBM); same data but 3-4.IX.1963 (1: MIZ, dissected on slide).
Distribution. Known from three specimens collected in Popondetta the capital city of Oro (Northern) Province, Papua New Guinea.
