Type Locality: Costa Rica, San Jose Prov., Alto de Jabillo Pirris, between San Geronimo and Pozo Azul.
Vernacular Names: Underwood's Pocket Gopher.
Distribution: Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Macrogeomys . Molecular phylogeography examined by Demastes et al. (1996).
