sp. nov.

Orthopelma mukriyana Riedel , nov. sp. ( Figs 4–5 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 )

Holotype: (♀) Iran-West Azarbaijan, Mahabad, 17.v.2019, N 36°33´50´´ E 45°42´37´´, 1617 m, M. trap, S. Karimi. (HMIM).

Paratype: (♀) Georgia, Khvamli , 992 m asl., MT, 18–25.v.2021, leg. J. Japoshvili (Tbilisi) .

Etymology: Mukriyan is the old name of a region in northwestern Iran that belongs to the collection locality of type materials.

Description: ♀: Body length 3.8–3.9 mm. Length of fore wing 3.0– 3.7 mm ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ). Flagellum stout and filiform, with 12 flagellomeres; basal seven flagellomeres 1.3× longer than eye; preapical flagellomere 1.2× wider than long; apical flagellomere 2.3–2.4× as long as preapical one ( Fig. 5E View FIGURE 5 ). Temple strongly and roundly narrowed behind eye. Distance between eye margin and lateral ocellus 1.5–1.7× ocellar diameter ( Figs 5F & G View FIGURE 5 ). Face strongly convergent ventrally, minimally 0.6× as wide as maximal width of frons, smooth and shining, with fine sparse setiferous punctures. Malar space 0.45–0.50× as long as width of mandibular base. Genal carina reaching hypostomal carina far from mandibular base.

Mesoscutum smooth and shining, with fine rather dense punctures. Mesopleuron smooth and shining ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ), with some longitudinal striae below subtegular ridge; median longitudinal groove about 0.8× as long as mesopleuron, with Ɐ strong transverse rugae in its posterior half. Metapleuron rugose, dull. Propodeum distinctly carinate, finely rugose. Area basalis and area superomedia confluent, together 1.7× longer than wide, with some coarse transverse rugae; anterior transverse carina (costula) reaching area superomedia in its middle. Area petiolaris 1.3× wider than long, almost smooth. Hind femur 4.6–4.7× longer than wide.

Areolet open laterally (3rs-m absent), vein 2rs-m 0.35–0.50× as long as part of vein M between veins 2rs-m and 2m-cu. Vein 1cu-a interstitial or slightly postfurcal. Postnervulus intercepted in or slightly behind its middle ( Fig. 5H View FIGURE 5 ). Nervellus of hind wing slightly inclivous.

1 st tergite 3.2× longer than wide, with almost parallel sides; lateromedian and dorsolateral carinae complete. 2 nd tergite 1.15–1.20× longer than wide; 3 rd tergite 0.7–0.8H as long as wide. Ovipositor sheath 0.43–0.45× as long as hind tibia.

Color: black. Apical 0.3 of clypeus reddish; labrum yellowish. Scape and pedicel Ɐ reddish-yellow or reddish ventrally. Tegula ivory. 1 st tergite black. 2 nd tergite red in basal 0.3, black-brown apically; 3 rd tergite reddish, infuscate in apical 0.2–0.3; 4 th and 5 th tergite reddish basally and brown apically in holotype, brownish in paratype. 6 th and 7 th tergites brown. 2 nd to 5 th sternites cream-yellow, with brown lateral spots. Coxae black; fore and mid coxae reddish to yellow apically. Trochanters reddish, trochantelli yellow. Fore and mid femora reddish, with cream-yellow apical spots; fore and mid tibiae and tarsi red or reddish-yellow. Hind femur black; hind tibia blackish, with cream-yellow basally spot externally. Hind tarsus black. Wings hyaline or slightly infuscate; pterostigma brown.

Male unknown.

Taxonomical remark: Due to its short flagellum and ventrally narrowed face, this new species belongs to the O. superbum species-group (sensu Kasparyan 2011). It is similar to O. dodecameron Kasparyan, 2011 , but can be differentiated by the following key:

1. Flagellum with 12 flagellomeres, seven basal flagellomeres combined 1.25× longer than eye. Minimal width of face 0.6× as wide as maximal width of frons. Fore trochanter yellow or reddish. Malar space 0.45–0.50× as long as width of mandibular base. Iran, Georgia.............................................................. O. mukriyana Riedel , nov. sp.

- Flagellum with 10–11 flagellomeres, seven basal flagellomeres combined 0.93× longer than eye. Minimal width of face 0.4× as wide as maximal width of frons. Fore trochanter black with yellow apex. Malar space 0.25× as long as width of mandibular base. Kyrgyzstan............................................................ O. dodecameron Kasparyan, 2011
