Type Locality: Ecuador, Tungurahua Prov., Palmera, 4000 ft (1219 m).
Vernacular Names: Tate's Oryzomys.
Distribution: Known from only three localities along E Andean foothills, 1128-1524 m, of C Ecuador.
Discussion: A close relative of O. yunganus (see Musser et al., 1998).
