Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken on north coast of Manne Island, Kavieng District at 1–11 m depth, St. KR36, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia to Philippines, Papua New Guinea to Palau and Solomon Islands. Found in aggregations on steep outer reef slopes, usually associated with black corals or gorgonians, 11–50 m depth. Marine.
