Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken near Nusa Island, Kavieng District at 5–23 m depth, St. KR 8, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Tungelo Island , off southeastern New Hanover , at 3–46 m depth, St. KR 104, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea to the Philippines, Palau and east to Solomon Islands. Found in aggregations among soft corals and sea fans, 15–24 m depth. Marine.
