Oxya guizhouensis sp. nov. ( Figs. 1–7 View FIGURES 1 – 7 )
Type materials: Holotype: male, China: Dasa River, Guizhou Province (29º10' N, 107 º34' E), alt, 1360– 1450m, J.Yu. Zheng, 18 Aug. 2004. Paratypes: 10 males, 6 females, same data as holotype (MHU).
Diagnosis: The new species is allied to Oxya brachyptera Zheng et Huo 1992 . Major differences are listed in Table 1.
Description: Male ( Figs.1–3 View FIGURES 1 – 7 ). Size moderate. Head large and short, shorter than length of pronotum. Vertex wide and short, anterior margin round, obtuse. Maximum width of vertex in front of eyes 1.8 times as long as its length. Disc of vertex relatively flat. Width of interocular distance 1.7 times as long as width of frontal ridge between 2 antennae. In profile, frons slightly oblique. Lateral margin of frontal ridge nearly parallel, only slightly concave below median ocellus. Frontal ridge with sulcus throughout. Lateral facial keels distinct, comparatively straight. Antennae filiform, 25 segments, surpassing the posterior margin of pronotum length of a middle segment 2.5 times its width. Eyes oblong and oval, longitudinal diameter 1.5 times horizontal diameter and 2.3 times its subocular furrow. Disc of pronotum with big, thick punctuate, anterior margin straight, posterior margin wide, obtuse, angular; median keel distinct throughout, cut by 3 transverse sulci, lateral keels absent; sides of pronotum subparallel, widened slightly at back part, length of prozona 1.3 times as long as its metazona; length of lateral lobe slightly longer than its height. Prosternal process cylindrical, apical oblique posteriorly. Width of mesosternal lobes slightly larger than length. Length of interspace of mesosternum 3.0 times its minimum width, lateral lobes of metasternum linked in apical part. Tegmina shorter, not reaching apex of hind femur, length 5.3 times as longer as its width, apex rounded, intercalary vein in medial area absent. Hind femur well proportioned, its length 5.0 times as long as its maximum width; median keel of upper side smooth; tip of lower kneelobe sharp and spiny. Hind tibia on outer side with 9 spines (including outer apical spine), on inner side with 10 spines. Length of 1st segment of hind tarsus longer as the sum of 2nd and 3rd segments. Arolium between 2 claws big, surpassing tip of claw. Tympanal organ developed, nearly oval. Epiproct broad triangular, its width 1.4 times as long as its length, with indistinct wave-like in lateral margins, basal part with slightly longitudinal groove in the middle. Cercus elongate, conical, slightly curved to inner side at the tip. Subgenital plate long, tapered, apex rounded.
Female ( Figs. 4–7 View FIGURES 1 – 7 ). Body robust. Maximum width of vertex in front of eyes 2.0 times as long as its length. Length of a middle segment of antennae 2.0 times its width. Longitudinal diameter of eyes 1.7 times horizontal diameter. Length of interspace of mesosternum 2.1 times its minimum width, lateral lobes of metasternum separated in apical part. Length of tegmina 5.0 times as longer as its width. Length of hind femur 5.6 times as long as its maximum width. Hind tibia on outer side with 8 spines (including outer apical spine). Cercus short-conical, not reaching the tip of epiproct. Ovipositor valve thick and short, length of dorsal valves 3 times as longer as its width, tip hook-shaped, with unequal sharp teeth on outer margin. Inner side of ventral basivalvular plate with 2 teeth. Subgenital plate with apical portion broad, posterior margin smooth.
Coloration: Males Body yellowish-green. Antennae and eyes brown. Head and pronotal disc yellow brown. Postocular band black. Tegmina yellow brown. Hind femur green, knee black. Hind tibia light bluegreen, basal part black. Abdomen yellowish-brown.
Females Hind femur yellowish-brown, knee brown. Ovipositor valves brown. The other colors similar to holotype.
Measurements (in mm): Length of body: male 20.1–24.9, female 24.0–28.1; Length of tegmina: male 12.3–16.0, female 15.3–18.7; Length of hind femur: male 11. 7–13.2, Ψ14.1–17.3.
Etymology: The name of this species is derived from Guizhou Province, the type locality.
