Upper Yungas Inca Hocicudo

Taxonomy. Oxymycterus juliacae J. A. Allen, 1900 View in CoL , “Juliaca, Peru.” Corrected by J. A. Allen in 1901 to “Inca Mines [= Santo Domingo Mine], about 200 miles [= 322 km | northeast ofJuliaca, on the east side of the Andes, on the Inambary River [= Rio Inambari],” Puno, Peru.
This species is monotypic.
Distribution. SE Peru (upper Rio Inambari) and WC Bolivia (upper Rio Chapare). View Figure
Descriptive notes. Head-body 125-155 mm, tail 95-140 mm, ear 19-24 mm, hindfoot 27-36 mm. No specific data are available for body weight. See general characters of the genus under the Amazonian Hocicudo ( O. amazonicus ) account. The Upper Yungas Inca Hocicudo is a moderately large species of Oxymycterus . Dorsum is dark brown, slightly darker on posterior part of back and rump; venteris drab brown. Forefeet and hindfeet are dark dorsally. Tail is uniformly covered by short hairs.
Habitat. Upper montane and cloud forests at elevations of 1000-2700 m.
