Oxysarcodexia comparilis ( Reinhard, 1939) View in CoL
( Figs 76–78 View FIGURES 70–78 )
Sarcophaga comparilis Reinhard, 1939: 66 View in CoL ; USA, Texas, Donna. Holotype male and one male paratype in CNC (not examined).
Oxysarcodexia omissa Lopes, 1946c:140 View in CoL ; Mexico, Federal District , Chapultepec. Holotype male and seven male paratypes in MNRJ.
Diagnosis. Male. Length 8.5 mm. Postocular plate with pale golden pollinosity. Ocellar bristles weakly developed. Thorax and abdomen with pale golden pollinosity, T5 with golden pollinosity along the entire extension. Two well-differentiated posterior and 3 smaller anterior post-sutural dorsocentrals. Apical scutellar bristles absent. Legs blackish. T3 with 3 pairs of lateral marginal bristles, T4 with 1 pair of median marginal and 3 pairs of lateral marginal bristles. ST5 with deep median cleft with margins almost parallel and with pilosity and bristles at apex of arms. Cercus straight with normal (i.e., as broad as median area), obliquely cut apex. Cercus with bristles ventrally in distal half. Cerci with distal third narrower than middle part in posterior view; parallel. Pregonite with expanded base, gradually narrowing to apex, which is darker than base. Postgonite broad with expanded base and sudden narrowing at apex, darker than pregonite; unicolorous. Distiphallus with smooth ventroapical margin, rounded apex and sinuous dorsal outline. Vesica symmetrical, with rounded median projection of main branch; distal lobes reduced, with filaments, tapering, sclerotized, without spines.
Remarks. This species is similar to O. confusa Lopes, 1946b and O. parva Lopes, 1946b . The most evident difference among these species is found in the cerci ( Lopes 1975c). In O. comparilis ( Fig. 78 View FIGURES 70–78 ) and O. parva ( Fig. 212 View FIGURES 210–218 ) the cerci are non-diverging in posterior view. However, the distinct constriction in the middle portion of each cercus, present in O. parva and O. confusa ( Fig. 84 View FIGURES 79–89 ), is absent in O. comparilis . Oxysarcodexia confusa differs from the others species also by having strongly diverging cercus apices. Reinhard (1939) pointed out similarities between O. comparilis ( Fig. 77 View FIGURES 70–78 ) and O. culminata ( Fig. 94 View FIGURES 90–98 ), but mentioned that the posterior outline of the phallic tube in lateral view is less sinuous in O. comparilis , the median projection of the main branch of the vesica is rounded in O. comparilis and angular in O. culminata , the distal vesical lobes are slender in O. comparilis , and O. comparilis has lighter pollinosity on the parafacialia and parafrontalia in comparison to O. culminata ( Lopes 1946b) . The terminalia of O. comparilis also resemble those of O. occulta Lopes, 1946b , but O. comparilis can be distinguished by the larger vesica and for having vesical distal lobes longer and directed laterally and ventroapically, an angular median projection of the main branch of the vesica, surstylus conical and cercus sinuous. Female unknown.
