Panzeria linguacercus Zeegers

( Figs 51–53 View FIGURES 51–56 , 57–58 View FIGURES 57–60 )

Panzeria linguacercus Zeegers, 2017: 20 . Holotype male (SDEI, not examined). Type locality: Russia, Khabarobsk.

Diagnosis. This species closely resembles P. rudis (Fallén) , but may be distinguished from it by the wider frons, broader male cerci and female fore tarsus not dilated ( Zeegers 2017). Parafacial bare; palpus yellow; apical scutellar setae present; 4 postsutural dorsocentral setae; anatergite bare; frons at narrowest point about 0.14–0.16 of head width in male, about 0.28–0.29 in female; female fore leg with weakly dilated apical 3 tarsomeres, 5th tarsomere slightly longer than wide.

Description. Body length: 9.2–13 mm.

Terminalia. Male: 6th abdominal tergite with thin grayish pruinosity, bearing a row of rather fine setae mixed with fine hairs near posterior margin, about 1/3 as long as syntergosternite 7+8, narrowly separated from the latter; syntergosternite 7+8 shining black; epandrium with very thin grayish pruinosity; cerci in dorsal view broad at base and narrowed posteriorly to basal 1/3, then parallel-sided to rounded apex, in lateral view nearly straight, evenly narrowed posteriorly, apex weakly curved and pointed; surstylus short and broad, nearly triangular, with long dense setae on anterodorsal portion and 3–4 short spines on apical portion; pregonite with a fine seta near middle.

Female: 6th tergite short, rather narrowly separated mid-dorsally, a row of strong setae on posterior margin, mixed with some fine hairs; 6th and 7th spiracles on ventral portion of 6th tergite; 6th sternite 2 times as long as 6th tergite; 7th tergite separated mid-dorsally into hemitergites, about 1.5 times as long as 6th tergite, with a row of short, fine setae on posterior margin; 7th sternite nearly as long as 6th sternite, narrower than the latter; 8th tergite reduced to small hemitergites, about 1/2 as long as 7th tergite; epiproct small, wider than long, with 4 fine setae.

Material examined from Japan (all in KUM). Honshu : 1 female, Iwate Pref., Iwaizumi Town, Akka , 20.vii.2001, H. Shima ; 1 female, Saitama Pref., Yorii, Mikayama , 15.v.1983, K. Hara ; 1 male, Saitama, Yorii, Mt. Kanetsukido , 27.iv.1986, T. Nambu ; 1 male, Saitama, Minano, Ohbuchi , 6.v.1976, K. Hara ; 1 male, Saitama, Ohtaki, Irikawa , 23.v.1986, K. Hara. Shikoku : 1 male, Ehime Pref., Kumakogen, Yurano , 21.v.2007, Malaise trap, E. Yamamoto. Kyushu : 1 female, Fukuoka City, Mt. Aburayama , 15.v.1989, H. Shima ; 1 male, Fukuoka Pref., Dazaifu City, Mt. Shioji , 4.v.2016, H. Shima ; 2 males, Fukuoka Pref., Mt. Kusenbu , 24.v.2007, 26.v.2015, H. Shima ; 1 male, Ohita Pref., Mts. Kuju, Yoshibu , 31.v.1979, H. Shima .

Distribution. Japan (Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu); Russia (Khabarovsk).

Remarks. This species was recently described from Khabarovsk, Far East Russia ( Zeegers 2017). Although I have not seen the type of P. linguacercus , I think the above Japanese specimens are well assignable to this species. Panzeria linguacercus occurs synchronically and sympatrically with P. rudis (Fallén) , which is similar in general appearance and genital structure. It appears to be less common than P. rudis in Japan.
