Peckia (Peckia) pexata ( Wulp, 1895)
( Figs 19 View FIGURES 11–20 , 93–98 View FIGURES 93–98 , 118 View FIGURES 117–120 )
Description of female terminalia. Posterior margin of T5 hexagonal, brown, with golden and gray microtrichosity dorsally and silver microtrichosity ventrally ( Figs 96–98 View FIGURES 93–98 ). T6 divided into two halves, orange, with golden microtrichosity; covered with setulae and with a row of robust setae near posterior margin. Spiracles 6 and 7 located on T6. T8 absent ( Figs 93, 96 View FIGURES 93–98 ). Epiproct triangular, covered with long and fine setae. Cercus covered with long and fine setae. Hypoproct covered with long and fine setae ( Fig. 94 View FIGURES 93–98 ). ST6 rounded, with setulae restricted to posterior half and a row of robust setae near posterior margin. ST7 square, with posterior margin projected laterally, with a patch of setulae on posterolateral corner; without setae. ST8 reduced, wider than long, with a single row of small setae ( Fig. 93 View FIGURES 93–98 ). Spermathecae globular, with grooves and a small rounded chamber where they receive the spermathecal duct ( Fig. 95 View FIGURES 93–98 ).

Distribution in Brazil. Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia, Roraima.
Remarks. The female terminalia of P. (P.) pexata are similar to those of P. (P.) chrysostoma and P. (P.) uncinata (see Remarks under P. (P.) chrysostoma ). However, P. (P.) pexata can be distinguished from P. (P.) chrysostoma and P. (P.) uncinata in having posterior margin of ST7 without a row of robust setae ( Fig. 93 View FIGURES 93–98 ).
This is a widespread species in the Brazilian Amazon but it is rarely collected in forested environments. It seems to be common in sunny and open places and it was one of the commonest species collected from a pig carcass in Cerrado (savanna-like) vegetation in Brazil by Barros et al. (2008).
