Phoretic female and male of this species were described from the cow dung in Crimea ( Khaustov 2008b).

This is the first record of P. montanus from Asia.

Material examined — 30 phoretic females, 2 males, Russia, Kurgan prov., Zverinogolovskiy distr., vicinity of settl. Ukrainets, 54°24ʹN 64°49ʹE, in cow dung, 20.09.2019, A.A. Khaustov leg.
