Penottus bunus Drake & Ruhoff 1961 View in CoL
Material examined: 1F, New Guinea, Neth. Waris, S. of Hollandia, 150–500m, 8–15.VIII.1959, T.C. Maa, BPBM.
Comments: This specimen is similar to the type in general aspect; however, the discoidal area is narrower (7/8 areolae deep against 8/9), and the paranota are slightly higher than long (L/h: 0.96 against 1.09), and as wide as long. Because I have only one specimen not that greatly different from the type, description of a new species cannot be justified. Penottus contains nine species distributed in East Asian peninsula and islands such as Borneo and Philippines ( Drake & Ruhoff 1961; Péricart 1992). This species was known only from Borneo. This is the first record of a species of this genus in New Guinea.
