Description of Phaeobacter inhibens EC View in CoL 2
Cells are Gram-staining-negative, non-flagellated, non-pigmented, and rod-shaped. Colonies are opaque, circular, smooth, convex and brown colored after 3 days of incubation on MA medium at 25℃. Positive for esculin hydrolysis; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, urease, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, gelatinase and β -galactosidase. Does not utilize D-glucose, capric acid, N -acetyl-glucosamine, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, D-maltose, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, trisodium citrate, adipic acid and phenyl acetic acid. Strain EC2 (= NIBRBAC000498481) was isolated from seaweed Jeonnam, Yeosu, Korea.
