Material examined. Marine water (salinity 29.6‰) collected from Anin Beach , Gangdong-myeon , Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, Korea (37°44 ʹ 4.7 ʺ N, 128°59 ʹ 24.2 ʺ E) on May 24, 2018 GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis. Body size 75-115 × 18-24 μm in vivo; body vase shape; contractile and flexible; phialinid ciliary wreath absent; single contractile vacuole terminally located; single ellipsoidal macronucleus; oral extrusome present; cortical granules colorless, spherical shape, size about 0.5 × 0.7 μm; 17 somatic kineties.

Distribution. China, Germany, Korea.

Remarks. Phialina salinarum differs from P. coronata (Claparède and Lachmann, 1858) in the body length (75- 115 μm vs. 160-200 μm) and the shape of macronucleus (ellipsoidal vs. elongated ellipsoidal) ( Long et al., 2009; Kahl, 1930; Foissner et al., 1995).

Voucher slides. Two slides of protargol-impregnated specimens were deposited at National Institute of Biological Resources, Korea (NIBRPR0000109428, NIBRPR 0000109429) and two slides were deposited at the National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea (MABIK PR 00043179, MABIK PR00043180).
