Distenia halconensis Vives 2012: 34 View in CoL .
Type material examined. Holotype: male, PHILIPPINES, Luzón : Mindoro (Mount Halcon), vii.2008, local collector ( PCEV) . Paratype: male, PHILIPPINES, Luzón : Mindoro, (Mount Halcon), iii.2010, N. Mohagan leg. ( PCEV) .
Additional material examined. PHILIPPINES, Mindanao: Valle de Compostela ( Maragusán ), female, 8.x.2000, E. Cabigas leg. ( PCEV); Caraga (Agusán del Norte), male, v.2012, local collector ( PCEV). Mindanao is a new island group record .
Remarks: This species was described by Vives (2012) using two male specimens and is differentiated from their congeneric species by the genae with fine transverse wrinkles; the antennomere III and abdominal ventrites black; the base of elytra with coarse and dense punctures; the meso- and metatibiae yellowish; and the elytral apex with two slight projections.
In its original description Vives (op. cit.) mentioned (translated): “This new species is similar to Distenia levitemporalis Heller, 1924 , described from Samar, from which it is separated, among other features, by the genae without wrinkles and long setae; the elytral base densely punctate, and different elytral pattern.” Actually, this species has the genae with transverse wrinkles, but they are finer than in D. levitemporalis and could be difficult to see them.
