Holotype. AMF78030 (internal moulds of partial cephalon and thorax).

AMF78028a/b (external/internal pygidium), AMF78029 (external pygidium), AMF78031 (external pygidium), AMF70832A (internal cephalon), AMF70832B (external librigena), AMF70832C (internal cranidium), AMF70832D (internal cranidium), AMF70832E (internal librigena), AMF70832F (internal hypostome).
Locality. NU L258.
Emended diagnosis. Glabella long, tapering anteriorly, almost reaching the anterior margin; moderately constricted at γ; anterior sections of facial suture highly divergent resulting in broad fixigenae; β – β equal or greater than δ – δ; long palpebral lobes; short straight ε – ζ section; large crescentic eyes, on eye platform with marginal rim. Pygidium parabolic, with 19–20 axial rings, 11–13 pleural ribs; ribs becoming reduced posteriorly; wide flat to gently concave pygidial border.
Remarks. Linguaphillipsia divergens was first described by Cvancara (1958), with an emended diagnosis by Engel & Morris (1975). We have modified the diagnosis of Engel & Morris (1975) to reflect new terminology in the recent literature. Linguaphillipsia divergens differs from the type species of Linguaphillipsia in having a prominent intramarginal zone inside the cephalic border (Owens 2006), also seen in the Australian species L. elongata . As with L. cangonensis , pygidial features are similar to the type species of Linguaphillipsia .
