Phlugiolopsis hainanensis Zheng, Zhang, Shi & Chang sp. nov., Chinese name DZ南吟ª
( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 )
Description. Male. Body small. Fastigium verticis conical, apex rounded, furrowed on dorsal surface. Eyes ovoid, feebly protruding outward and forward ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Apical segment of maxillary palpus nearly equal to subapical one in length, apex slightly swollen.
Pronotum long, obviously elongate backwards, reaching posterior margin of eighth abdominal tergite; anterior margin slightly prominent, posterior margin roundly triangular; lateral lobe longer than deep, without humeral sinus ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ). Tegmina short, terminals faintly surpassing posterior margin of pronotum, reaching posterior margin of ninth abdominal tergite, apices rounded ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ). Hind wings absent.
All femora unarmed on ventral surfaces. Fore coxa with 1 spine; fore tibia with 4 inner spines and 5 outer spines on ventral surface; tibial tympana open and oval on both sides. Middle tibia with 3 spines on inner margin and 4 spines on outer margin of ventral surface. Genicular lobes of hind femur with apices rounded; hind tibia with 29–31 inner spines and 35–36 outer spines on dorsal surface, bearing 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs and 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs.
Centre of posterior margin of tenth abdominal tergite concave. Cercus expanded on interno-ventral surface near base, its inner margin thickened, slightly curved inward and dorsad; cercus hook-shaped in apical area, curved inward and ventrad, terminal acute ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 ); external margin with spinous process at subapex on ventral surface ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ). Subgenital plate trapezoid with base broad and apex narrow; basal margin roughly straight, posterior margin truncate ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ); styli conical, inserted at subapex of subgenital plate on ventral surface near lateral margins.
Female. Unknown.
Coloration. Body yellowish brown. Eyes reddish brown. Dorsum of head with 4 longitudinal dark brown stripes. Flagellum of antenna with sparse annulate black stripes, lamellar uplift on inner margin of antennal scrobe dark brown. Disc of pronotum with broad longitudinal brown stripe, anterior half of longitudinal stripe dark brown on lateral margins, posterior half pale. Legs with many black spots; genicular lobes black; tarsi dark brown.
Material examined. Holotype: ♂, Yinggeling, Hainan, 22 August, 2019, coll. Tao Zhang.
Measurements (mm). Body: ♂ 5.9; pronotum: ♂ 5.0; tegmen: ♂ 2.5; hind femur: ♂ 8.0.
Discussion. The new species can be distinguished from the known species of the genus by: pronotum distinctly elongate backwards; male cercus with broad expansion on interno-ventral surface near base, its internal margin thickened; external margin of cercus with spinous process near apical area on ventral surface.
Etymology. The specific epithet of the new species refers to the type locality Hainan.
Distribution. China (Hainan).
