Mamestra discalis Grote, 1877 , In: Uhler, Bulletin of the U.S. Geological & Geographical Survey Territories 3: 797. Type locality: Clear Creek Canyon ( U.S., Colorado) .

Taxonomic notes. P. discalis and P. piniae are sister species according to the morphological characters and also to the CO1 sequence. Abdominal coremata are present, the bundles of bristles on the left saccular process are separated, vesica with subbasal and medial diverticula. In female genitalia two signa are present only, while P. piniae has two stronger, stripe-like and two weaker signa.
