Polistes canadensis var. or subsp. satan Bequaert, 1940: 11 , ♀.

Diagnosis. Female. Body pigmentation black, may have brown spots on the legs. Wings pigmentation hyaline and matte. Big size, about 25 mm in total length. Clypeus slightly wider than long or as long as wide, covered by long bristles, with medium-sized and deep punctures, apex rounded, clypeus-eye touching for an extent smaller than width of antennal socket; gena width at midlength equal to or slightly wider than eye; occipital carina strong; humeri not projecting; mesepisternum with short bristles, small and shallow punctation; propodeal concavity widely extended in the center, propodeal striae strong in the center and weak on the sides; tergum I longer than wide, with short and dense bristles and strong, medium sized, and deep punctures; tergum II wider or as wide as long; short bristles, medium punctures. Male. Similar to females, except for strong striae throughout propodeal area, reduced yellow spots on the body.

Distribution. Brazil: Distrito Federal, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo.
