Potamocypris kusuokai sp. nov.

Etymology. Named after Dr. Yasushi Kusuoka (formerly of the Lake Biwa Museum), in appreciation of his efforts collecting the specimens and making them available to the author.

Type locality. Pool on limestone outcrop at coast of Nishiko, Kitadaitojima , Okinawa Prefecture (25.9539º N, 131.2843º E) ( Fig. 1 , locality 1) .

Type material. Holotype. JAPAN • 1 ♀, with soft parts dissected in glycerine and sealed in a slide, valves stored dry in a micropalaeontological slide; Okinawa Prefecture, Kitadaitojima, Nishiko ; 25.9539º N, 131.2843º E; 14 Dec. 2010: Yasushi Kusuoka leg.; pool on limestone outcrop; LBM 1430009607 .

Allotype. JAPAN • 1 ♁, with soft parts dissected in glycerine and sealed in a slide, valves stored dry in a micropalaeontological slide; same collecting data as for holotype; LBM 1430009608 .

JAPAN • 1 ♀, with soft parts dissected in glycerine and sealed in a slide, valves stored dry in a micropalaeontological slide; same collecting data as for holotype; LBM 1430009609 . • 3 ♁♁, with soft parts dissected in glycerine and sealed in slides, valves stored dry in micropalaeontological slides; same collecting data as for holotype; LBM 1430009610 , LBM 1430009611 , LBM 1430009612 . • 1 ♀, whole, stored dry in a micropalaeontological cavity slide; same collecting data as for holotype; LBM 1430009613 . • 1 ♁, whole, stored dry in micropalaeontological cavity slides; same collecting data as for holotype; LBM 1430009614 . • 1 ♀, right valve, stored dry in micropalaeontological cavity slide; same collecting data as for holotype; LBM 1430009615 .
