Morphometric information: length: 7.5–12 μm; width: 3–5 μm; striae in 10 µm: 20–30
Comments: Psammothidium abundans was consid- ered a typical species of Antarctica (Van de Vijver et al. 2008). Since its description, P. abundans has been reported in Antarctic and sub-Antarctic regions.
