Type locality: “In Ins. Caribaeâ Sti Vincentii”.

Holotype: male, BMNH.

Material examined: The MNHN houses specimens identified by H.W. Brolemann and M. Würmli from the following localities: BRAZIL: Sancto Antonio de Barra, Sertão de Bahia (desert); COLOMBIA: Sancta Marta Donama; FRENCH GUYANA: StLaurentduMaroni; Montagnes de Montsinéry; VENEZUELA: Caracas; Cueva Alfredo Jahn Miranda.

General distribution: North & Central America: Cuba. Haiti. Mexico. Nicaragua. Panama (incl. Pearl Islands). St. Vincent Island. The Bahamas. Trinidad. USA: California (Doubtful record (see Verhoeff, 1925) that need confirmation). South America: Bolivia. Brazil. Colombia. French Guyana. Guyana. Paraguay. Peru. Venezuela.

Remarks: This species was not hitherto known from the territory of French Guyana, though its presence there could be expected being widespread in the whole Neotropical region. Its range includes Mexico in the north, reaching Paraguay and Brazil in the south.
