Pseudocromata cervantesi Ortega-León and Thomas , species novum
(figs. 1–3)
Etymology. This species is named in honor to Dr. Luis Cervantes Peredo, for his great and remarkable contribution to knowledge of Hemiptera .
Description. Body oval, color black with orange-tan margins and spots, surface lustrous; labrum long, bent forward; meso and metatibia with thick setae across the ventral and lateral surface as well as at the apex.
Color. Lustrous. Black with pinkish orange margin and blotches with dark-brown punctures sparsely distributed over the body, forming wrinkles at the base of the clypeus, on the pronotum and the scutellum. Orangish are the antennal segments I, II and III, the apex of the clypeus, the lateral margins of the pronotum, connexivum and the abdominal segments, a collar of small spots behind the head, a spot at the base and apex of the scutellum, a large spot on the radial vein of the corium, all three pairs of legs, the coxae and the labium. Dark brown are the discs of the head, pronotum, scutellum, corium, hemelytral membrane, dorsal and ventral abdominal segments. Light brown are the antennal segments IV and V and the labrum. The eyes are reddish.
Head declivent, wider than long, vertex somewhat narrowed, the basal third of the paraclypei and clypeus with wrinkles; lateral margins on the anterior half of the paraclypei somewhat concave, strongly carinate, the basal half of the paraclypeal margins carinate and sinuous; the clypeus and paraclypei equal in length, the apices of the paraclypei somewhat rounded, the apex of the clypeus rounded; clypeus wider than the paraclypeus, base of the clypeus constricted. Antenna with five segments, the first visible in dorsal view, segmental proportions I>II<III<IV<V. The labium reaching the apex of the fifth ventrite, first segment resting over the prosternum, segment II the longest and reaching between the meso- and metacoxae; segmental proportions I<II>III<IV.
Pronotum wider across the humeral angles than its greatest length, somewhat declivent, surficial punctures sparse, densest near the posterior margin. Anterior margin somewhat concave behind the head, anterior angles with a thick projection triangular in form and surpassing the lateral margin of the eyes.Anterolateral pronotal margins straight and strongly carinate; posterolateral margins somewhat concave, humeral angles not prolonged. Scutellum narrow and short, width at claval angle more than half basal width; length of postclaval scutellum slightly shorter than basal half. Posterior margin of corium roundly base of fifth connexival segment. Prosternum sulcate, mesosternum elevate and pinched; metasternum flat. Propleura, mesopleura and metapleura with a few uniform punctures on the surface; evaporatorium covering more than half of the metapleura; metapleural peritreme auriculate. Tibia of all three pairs of legs markedly sulcate with thick setae on the ventral and lateral surfaces continuous with those on the apex. Abdominal trichobothria lateral to an imaginary line connecting the lateral margin of the spiracles.
Female Genitalia. Eighth gonocoxites scale-like, with the anterior margin somewhat convex; eighth laterotergites triangular, with a spiracle present at the basal angle; ninth laterotergites pentagonal with the margins straight and with a tiny pointed tubercle at the apex; ninth gonocoxite strongly elevate and with a medial carina; tenth segment occluded on the ninth laterotergites, abdominal segment VII strongly concave in caudal view.
Male genitalia. The pygophore is deeply excavate on its posterior surface with the inferior rim seated deeply within the excavation which has a V-shape in outline and is reflexed basally leaving a narrow fossa at the depth of the excavation below the medial portion of the rim. The posterior margin has a U-shaped conformation in caudal view with the posterolateral angles truncate, each bearing a tuft of setae on its mesial side. The uncinated apex of each paramere overhangs and is thus exterior to the inferior rim.
