Pseudomictis brevicornis Hsiao, 1963: 337 View in CoL
Redescription: Measurements: Male: Head length in dorsal view 1.5 mm; width across eyes 2.5 mm; interocular space 1.5 mm; interocellar space 0.7 mm; length of antennal segments: I: II: III: IV = 4.6:3.8:3.0: 4.2 mm. Pronotum: length 6.0 mm; width across frontal angles 2.2 mm; width across lateral angles 7.2 mm. Scutellum length 2.2 mm; width 3.0 mm. Maximum width of abdomen 6.5mm. Body length 25.8 mm.
Female: Head length in dorsal view 2.0 mm; width across eyes 3.0 mm; interocular space 1.6 mm; interocellar space 0.8 mm; length of antennal segments I: II: III: IV =4.6:4.1:3.5: 5.6 mm. Pronotum length 7.0 mm; width across frontal angles 2.8 mm; width across lateral angles 8.4 mm. Scutellum length 3.8 mm; width 3.7 mm. Maximum width of abdomen 11.5 mm. Body length 32.0 mm.
Male: Dorsal coloration: Ground dark castaneous; head, pronotum, scutellum, clavus, corium fulvous; eyes rufous; ocelli red; antennal segments I to III black and segment IV orange with basal joint puce; hemelytral membrane brown; fore and mesotibiae dark; metafemora and tibiae dark castaneous, fawn spot near apex of femora, tarsi yellow; abdomen lateral and connexivum black. Ventral coloration: Almost all dark castaneous, rostrum orange, abdomen ventral side of segments III to V and anterior margin of segment VI reddish. Structure: Pronotum irregularly wrinkled, anterolateral border with small tubercles, lateral margin slightly sinuate, lateral angles rounded recurved, slightly dorsally; hemelytra almost reaching apex of abdomen. Abdominal sternum III posteriorly greatly produced medially and with a spine on each side, apex of produced portion cystiform; segment IV also produced posteriorly medially; together with sternum III reaching posterior margin of sternum V and strongly elevated on sternum V; anterior portion of segment VI also elevated, forming a saddlelike protuberance as shown in Fig. 5 and Fig. 10. Posterior femora inflated and recurved, with a row of denticulations ventrally, a bigger one near apex; Posterior tibiae ampliated as in Fig. 2a.
Female: Dorsal coloration: Like male, margins of posterior tibiae and longitudinal carina reddish. Ventral coloration: Almost black, propleura and abdomen segment VII to IX ferrugineous. Structure: Hemelytra reaching apex of abdomen. Abdomen laterally expanded, abdominal sternum segment III slightly posteriorly produced. Metatibiae ampliated as in Fig. 2b.

Remark: After checking the types and some specimens identified by Hsiao, we found variation existing in Pseudomictis brevicornis . All the types are relatively smallsized, they are quite dark dorsally, the serration on the lateral margins of the pronotum are quite distinct, and the strongly expanded portions occur only on the basal half of the female’s posterior tibiae ventrally. But in other specimens the body is bigger, the serration on the pronotum is less distinct, the dorsum is less deeply, and expanded portion of the female’s posterior tibiae is longer sometimes. The size of the spines on the male’s abdomen also varies, all this variation is continuous.
