Remarks: The specimen was labelled as “typus” by Berg and is treated here as syntype (ICZN, 1999, Article 73.1.3 and its recommendation 73F).This species, originally described as Philaenus Stål by Berg (1884), was transferred to Ptyelus Le Peletier & Serville by Lallemand (1912: 38).
Syntype lacks right forewing.
