Pyranthrene nigriceps ( Hampson, 1919) View in CoL comb. nov. ( Tipulamima )
Tipulamima nigriceps Hampson, 1919: 57 View in CoL ; Dalla Torre & Strand 1925: 6; Gaede 1929: 519; Heppner & Duckworth 1981: 41; Pühringer & Kallies 2004: 33.
Type material examined. Holotype ♀: Sierra Leone, Panguma , Simpson leg.; with labels: “Sierra Leone. / Panguma / 1.VII.1912 / J.J. Simpson. / 1912-364.”; “ Tipulamima . / nigriceps. / type ♀. Hmpsn.”; “Type” ( NHMUK).
This species has simple, slim, not elongated hindlegs without tufted or roughened scales. The abdomen is slender, spindle shaped, clearly separated from thorax. The transparent areas of the wings are superficially similar to that of Tipulamima , but the wings are distinctly narrower, the anal area of the hindwing much smaller. Barcoding place this species within Osminiini (Pühringer personal communication, unpublished) we here provisionally transfer it to Pyranthrene .
