ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 204 (key), 205 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie et collibus agri parmensis . A Venetiis marem olim accepi [ Parmese plains and hills. Formerly I received the male from Venice ( Italy)]” .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Pyrellia rapax (Harris, 1780) View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 102, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 11).
REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 205) described Pyrellia suda without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens, but providing specific characters for the male, from material he had collected and that he had also received from N. Contarini. Twelve syntypes were found in this study.
