Retipenna callioptera Yang & Yang, 1993: 270 View in CoL . Type locality: China (Guizhou, Maolan ). Holotype in IOZ.

Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the presence of the head and thorax without markings, and the fore- and hindwing with dark brown shadings on basal area.

Description. Male. Body length 10.0–12.0 mm, forewing length 15.4–20.1 mm, hindwing length 12.9–17.9 mm.

Head without spots, vertex raised. Compound eyes prominent and black. Antennae yellow, scape and pedicel wider than flagellum. Frons, clypeus and gena not marked. Maxillary and labial palpi brownish yellow.

Pronotum anterior margin shorter than posterior margin, mesonotum and metanotum without markings.

Legs with dense setae, without spots. Pretarsal claws brown, with basal dilation.

Forewing slightly broad, with dark brown shadings on basal area. Pterostigma narrow and brown. Costal area with 20 crossveins; 10–11 radial crossveins present. m1 smaller than m2; im ovoid; 8 psm-psc crossveins present. c1 smaller than c2, dcc closed. A1 forked, A2 and A3 simple. Inner gradate series with 5 crossveins, outer gradate series with 6 crossveins.

Hindwing slightly narrow, basal veins brown. Costal area with 16 crossveins; 10 radial crossveins and 7 psm-psc crossveins present. Inner gradate series with 4–5 crossveins, outer gradate series with 5–6 crossveins.

Material. Holotype ♂, China, Guizhou, Libo, Maolan, 560 m, 1990.V.13, Chikun Yang ( IOZ) . Paratype: 1♂, China, Guizhou, Libo, Maolan , 560 m, 1990.V.13, Chikun Yang ( IOZ) . 1♀ 1 ex, China, Guizhou, Libo, Maolan , 1990.V.15, Zhirui Liu ( IOZ) ; 3♂, China, Guizhou, Libo, Maolan , 560 m, 1990.V.13, Chikun Yang ( IOZ) ; 1 ex, China, Guizhou, Libo, Maolan , 540 m, 1988.V.05 ( CAU) ; 1 ex, China, Guizhou, Libo, Maolan , 540 m, 1988.V.23 ( CAU) .

Distribution. China (Guizhou).

Remarks. The genitalia of the specimens we examined are lost. Yang & Yang (1993) originally described this species, including some genital characters: the median arch of male gonarcus with V-shaped invagination, the lateral arms narrow at base and wide at tip, the arcessus widest at base, the absence of the female vela. This species can be distinguished by the brown shadings on basal area of fore- and hindwings.
