Retipenna parvula Yang & Wang, 2005: 292 View in CoL . Type locality: China (Sichuan, Jiuzhaigou). Holotype in CAU.

Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the presence of the head and thorax without spots, the forewing with brown shading on CuP or not, the brown costal crossveins and inner gradate series, the median arch of male gonarcus with shallow V-shaped invagination, and the narrow ovoid arcessus.

Description. Male. Body length 10.0– 12.4 mm, forewing length 15.2–17.2 mm, hindwing length 13.8–15.5 mm.

Head yellow, vertex raised. Compound eyes prominent and black. Antennae yellow, scape and pedicel wider than flagellum. Frons, clypeus and gena not marked. Maxillary and labial palpi brownish yellow.

Pronotum anterior margin shorter than posterior margin, mesonotum and metanotum without markings.

Legs with dense setae, without spots. Pretarsal claws brown, with basal dilation.

Forewing tapering apically, costal crossveins and inner gradate series brown. Pterostigma indistinct. Costal area with 22–28 crossveins; 14–17 radial crossveins present. m1 smaller than m2; im ovoid; 11 psm-psc crossveins present. c1 smaller than c2, dcc opened. CuP brown, with brown shadings or not. A1 forked, A2 and A3 simple. Inner gradate series with 7–10 brown crossveins, outer gradate series with 9–11 crossveins.

Hindwing narrow, without shadings. Costal area with 18–22 crossveins; 13–16 radial crossveins and 7–9 psm-psc crossveins present. Inner gradate series with 5–9 crossveins, outer gradate series with 7–10 crossveins.

Abdomen with dense setae. Tergum VII and sternum VII subquadrate in lateral view; tergum VIII slightly shorter than tergum VII; sternum VIII fused with sternum IX and with small tubercle near tip; tergum IX fused with ectoproct. Callus cerci ovoid. Gonarcus arcuate, median arch with small V-shaped invagination, lateral arms narrow at base and wide at tip; entoprocessus widest at tip; arcessus narrow and ovoid.

Female. Body length 11.7–13.7 mm, forewing length 17.1–19.8 mm, hindwing length 15.9–18.6 mm.

Sternum VII longer than tergum VII; tergum VII subquadrate in lateral view; tergum VIII shorter than tergum VII; tergum IX fused with ectoproct. Callus cerci ovoid. Subgenitale bilobed apically; spermatheca thick, vela extremely short, ventral impression deep, duct long and coiled.

Remarks. This species is similar to R. diana , especially specimens without brown shadings on CuP of the forewing. However, the invagination on median arch of male gonarcus of this species is shallow and V-shaped, while that of R. diana is deeper and U-shaped.
