ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861g: 382 (key), 390 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Parmae [Parma (Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (missing head, left fore- and both mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 19): Sarcophaga Mgn / infantula Rnd. / 1030 / = dissimilis Tipo di Meig. Parigi , det. Böttcher / Lectotypus ♂ Sarcophaga infantula Rnd., T. Pape det., 1986 / Heteronychia dissimilis (Meig.) , T. Pape det., 1986.

PARALECTOTYPE EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (missing hind-legs; terminalia glued to the number label) ( MZUF: Box 19): Sarcophaga Mgn / infantula Rnd. / 1030 / S. offuscata Pand. ♂ Schiner p.p., det. Böttcher / Paralectotypus.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Sarcophaga (Heteronychia) dissimilis Meigen, 1826 View in CoL ( Verves 1986: 152, Pape 1988: 9, 1996: 326, Whitmore 2011: 28).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861g: 390) described Sarcophaga infantula from just the male sex without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length. Pape (1988: 9) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotype (♂). One female in the MSRN (Box 1831) and three females in the MZUF (Box 19) are not included in the type series because of their sex.
