Locus typicus: Canada, Alberta, Munn Creek, 53.30°N, 118.10°W, spruce forest. Holotype: Male , 23.vii.– 15.ix.1994, leg. E. Fuller, Malaise trap ( PWMP) . Paratype: 1 male, same data ( PWMP) .

Description. Male. Head. Eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. 4th flagellomere with l/w-index 2.4, haired pale and sparsely, longer than wide. Necks rather long. Palpus 3-segmented, short; basal segment without deepened sensory area, with 2–3 bristles. Thorax. Brown. Scutum haired pale. Wings pale; R1: R = 0.8; c 2/3 w; y = x, bare; posterior veins bare. Haltere short, brownish. Legs brownish; tibial organ of fore tibia small, comb-like; middle and hind tibiae with one long spur, a second is strong reduced or absent; claws toothless. Abdomen. Brown, haired pale. Hypopygium brown, ventral base nearly closed, haired sparsely; gonocoxites longer than gonostylus, inner ventral margin haired sparsely. Gonostylus flat on inner side, with strong apical tooth and 6–7 spines somewhat shorter than tooth, located from apex to the middle of inner side. Tegmen rather high, with fine teeth. Body size: 2.8 mm.

Comments. The species is similar to Sc. dentrotica Steffan. It differs in the shape of the gonostylus (flattened inner side), the longer subapical spines and in shape of the tegmen. It is similar to Sc. neglecta Menzel & Mohrig as well. It differs by stronger subapical spines, arranged in an irregular row in the middle of inner side (in Sc. neglecta in a straight row), and in a higher tegmen. It belongs to the Sc. atomaria group.

Distribution. Canada (Alberta).
