Schizoneura corni Hartig, 1841 View in CoL
Schizoneura corni Hartig, 1841: 367 View in CoL . SYNTYPES: 7 (field no. missing [5.14, 5.17-5.20]; 865 [5.15]; 1038 [5.16]), Cornus sanguinea View in CoL .
Anoecia corni ( Fabricius, 1775) View in CoL (senior secondary homonym and synonym—Börner, 1952: 179). Valid
Specimens. Seven alates on separate pins. Specimen 865 collected near “Hammer Garten” on June 18, 1836. Specimen 1038 collected from Cornus sanguinea View in CoL in Buchhorst, Germany in mid-September, 1839 .
Remarks. Hartig (1841) was uncertain about the separation of his species from Anoecia corni ( Fabricius, 1775) . As there are several species of Anoecia Koch, 1857 recorded from dogwood in Europe, the synonymy with A. corni cannot be reliably confirmed at the present time. Specimen 865 is likely misplaced in the collection as it appears to belong to the tribe Pemphigini rather than Anoeciinae . It lacks the protuberant secondary rhinaria and dark pterostigma characteristic of A. corni , and the hindwing veins arise from a single point.
