Scymnus (Pullus) medanensis Eizaguirre, 2007

( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 A–H)

Scymnus medanensis Eizaguirre 2007: 109 .

Material examined. Montaña Cardon, 23.III.2017 1 ex. on L. arborescens ; Cofete 07.VIII.2017 1 ex. on succulent, La Pared 05.VIII.2017 1 ex. and 12.VIII.2017 2 exx., all on succulents.

Distribution. Endemic Canarian species, described recently from specimens coming from Tenerife ( Eizaguirre 2007). New to Fuerteventura.

Remarks. Eizaguirre (2007), in his description of the species, did not give a full illustration of the characters. Here we provide detailed illustrations of the male and female genitalia as well as the abdomen. The antennae possess 11 antennomeres ( Fig. 6G View FIGURE 6 ) and the abdominal postcoxal lines are rounded, complete, reaching anterior margin ( Fig. 6A View FIGURE 6 ), which supports the placement of this species in the subgenus Pullus Mulsant. The parameres are smooth on the inner margin ( Fig. 6E View FIGURE 6 ) and shorter than the penis guide ( Fig. 6D View FIGURE 6 ). The penis guide is very characteristic with its harpoon-shaped apex ( Fig. 6E View FIGURE 6 ). The penis is strongly recurved with the apical part somewhat sinuate; a small membranous field is present at 2/3 of its length; the apex is membranous with a sclerotized, curved thorn-like process ( Fig. 6H View FIGURE 6 ). Spermatheca as in Fig. 6B View FIGURE 6 .
