Selaginella revoluta Baker, J. Bot. View in CoL 21: 141. 1883.
Range: — Panama to Bolivia (CO), Venezuela, Guianas, and Amazonian Brazil.
Ecology: —Rare, known from a single Bolivian collection (Kessler 8820, LPB, UC); terrestrial, often forming dense mats in humid forests; 200 m.
Notes: — Selaginella brevifolia Baker , from Amazonia, may occur in northern Bolivia. It differs from S. revoluta by median leaves with prolonged auricles (vs. lacking auricles), and from S. novae-hollandiae by bearing rhizophores along the stems and branches, and its strongly prostrate habit (vs. suberect, lacking rhizophores above the proximal third of stems). Selaginella revoluta also lacks sobols at the base of the main stems (vs. sobols usually present).
