Type:—‘ ARGENTINA: Neuquén, Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi, nacimientos del Río Estacada (este) en faldeos hacia el filo que conduce al cerro Viola, 1600–1700 m s.m., leg. J. Diem 3114, 28-II-1963 ’ (holotype: LP 000474!). Iconography: Freire et al. (2014: 103).

Note: — Senecio diemii differs from species of S. ser. Culcitium in its erect capitula and echinate pollen. In order to determine the taxonomic assignment of S. diemii to a series in Senecio , further studies are required.
