Type :—[ ECUADOR]. ‘ In vulcano Antisana Jameson n. 846’. (holotype: KW 001001543 !; isotypes: F 0092618 F!, G 00305973 !). Iconography: Cabrera (1985: 121) .

Senecio chionogeton Weddell (1855: 91) . Type:—[ COLOMBIA]. ‘ Nouvelle Grenade: Sur de pie le Tolima. au niveau des neiges perpétuelles ( Goudot [s.n.])’ (lectotype: P 01816856 !, designated here; isolectotype: P 01816855 !).

Senecio subdecurrens Schultz Bipontinus ex Weddell (1855: 109) . Type:— PERU. ‘Pèrou, province de Carabaya, au bord des ruisscaux des Cordillères! [Tabina, 5000 m] (Lechler, exsicc., n. 2056; Wedd.)’ (lectotype: P 01816551 !, designated here; isolectotypes: K 000497840 !, P 01816553 !, P 01816552 !).

Distribution and Habitat ( Fig. 5 ): — Senecio tephrosioides occurs in páramo of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, at elevations of 2800–5000 m.
