Sinopoda phiset View in CoL spec. nov.

Figs 33 View FIGURES 33 a–c, 61 i–j

Type material: Holotype: female (SD 1652), THAILAND: Chiang Mai Province: Fang District, Royal Agricultural Research Station Ang-Khang, 1500 m, 09 November 2006, P. Dankittipakul leg., field number PDC118 ( MHNG).

Etymology: The species name is derived from the Thai word “phiset” meaning “distinct” and referring to the distinctive lobal septum of the female copulatory organ; adjective.

Diagnosis: Females of Sinopoda phiset spec. nov. are similar to those of S. nanphagu spec. nov. ( Figs. 31 View FIGURES 31 a–b) and S. anguina in having a wide lobal septum and the anterior part of the internal duct system appearing as a separated swelling. They can be distinguished from the latter species by 1. smaller body size reaching 14.50 (23.40 in S. nanphagu spec. nov.), 2. lobal septum covering nearly 2/3 of epigyne (covering nearly half of epigyne in S. nanphagu spec. nov.), 3. anterior swollen part of the spermathecae nearly half the size in S. phiset spec. nov. compared to S. nanphagu spec. nov., 4. glandular appendages straight (curved in S. nanphagu spec. nov.) and 5. fertilization ducts with proximal part as wide as distal part (proximal part wider than distal part in S. nanphagu spec. nov.); from S. anguina by 1. anterior part of internal duct system with indentation anteriorly (anteriorly without indentation in S. anguina ) and 2. glandular appendages nearly as wide as posterior part of spermathecae and distal part of glandular appendages thickened (glandular appendages narrower than posterior part of spermathecae and distal part not thickened in S. anguina ).

Description: Female (holotype): Total length 14.50; prosoma 6.90 long, 5.90 wide, anterior width of prosoma 3.60; opisthosoma 7.60 long, 5.10 wide. Eye measurements: AME 0.29; ALE 0.48; PME 0.37; PLE 0.49; AME–AME 0.25; AME–ALE 0.05; PME–PME 0.32; PME–PLE 0.52; AME–PME 0.44; ALE–PLE 0.47; clypeus AME 0.55; clypeus ALE 0.45. Leg formula: 2(41)3. Measurements of palp and legs: palp: 9.80 (2.90, 1.50, 2.20, 3.20); I: 26.20 (7.30, 3.30, 7.30, 6.30, 2.00); II: 28.60 (8.30, 3.50, 7.90, 6.80, 2.10); III: 24.40 (7.20, 2.90, 6.80, 5.60, 1.90); IV: 26.20 (7.50, 2.70, 7.00, 6.80, 2.20). Spination: palp: 131, 101, 2121, 1014; legs: Fe I 323/423, II–III 323, IV 331; Pa I–III 001, IV 000; Ti I–IV 2026; Mt I–II 1014, III 2026, IV 3036. Cheliceral furrow with 3 anterior and 4 posterior teeth.

Colouration in ethanol: Prosoma reddish-brown, lateral and posterior margin brown, medially brown, posteriorly with yellowish-brown transversal stripe. Sternum yellowish-brown with brown margin. Opisthosoma brown, medio-anterior with yellow longitudinal stripe, anteriorly with yellow spots, median part with four brown dots, posteriorly dark brown, laterally with yellowish-brown spots, ventral part medially yellowish-brown, laterally brown with yellow spots. Chelicerae reddish-brown. Palps brown; Fe distally brown, Pa and Mt reddish brown. Legs reddish-brown; Fe dorsal and distal part with brown dots, Ti proximally with brown band.

Copulatory organ as in diagnosis. Epigynal field wider than long with two short anterior bands. Epigynal pockets running from latero-posterior to medio-anterior. Lateral lobes fused, posteriorly with indentation. Fusion bubbles arranged medially at a longitudinal line on epigyne. Internal duct system nearly as wide as long. Spermathecae fused along the median line. Glandular appendages extending posteriorly from posterior half of internal duct system and as thick as spermathecae. Fertilization ducts arising postero-laterally, slightly curved and narrow.

Male: Unknown.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
